Installation process requirements for stainless steel pipelines

The installation method of stainless steel pipes is basically the same as that of ordinary carbon steel, and there are some process requirements in certain processes.

  1. Stainless steel materials should not be lifted in direct contact with other metals and should be cushioned with non-metallic materials such as wooden boards or rubber sheets.
  2. Ordinary grinding wheels are not allowed for pipe cutting, and stainless steel special grinding wheels or plasma cutting should be used.
  3. During the positioning welding of stainless steel pipes and fittings, the inner side of the weld seam should be protected with argon filling.
  4. Arc initiation and termination, arc initiation shall be carried out using the reflow method. Arc termination shall fill the arc pit, and arc initiation must be completed within the groove. It is prohibited to strike or initiate arcs on the surface of the base material of pipelines and fittings. If defects such as pores and cracks are found at the starting and ending points of the arc, they should be promptly cleaned up.
  5. Stainless steel pipes and fittings, as well as the connection between stainless steel pipes and fittings and non stainless steel pipes and fittings, should be filled with argon gas protection inside the pipe and cavity before welding the butt joints. Only then can tungsten inert gas arc welding be carried out.
  6. The starting and ending points of multi pass and multi-layer welding should be staggered from each other.
  7. When stainless steel materials are continuously welded, the interlayer temperature shall not exceed 60 ℃.
  8. The weld seam at the pipeline connection joint should be pickled and passivated after welding.
  9. The hydrostatic test of stainless steel pipelines has certain requirements for water temperature and quality, and the water temperature should not be less than 5 degrees Celsius; The chloride ion content in water must be greater than 25Pmm.
